the abundance of islands means that Finland has an exceptionally long
shoreline. The feature that has brought about most changes in the
coastal landscape of Finland is
the rapid increase in the number of holiday houses. As a result of the
attraction of the sea these houses tended to be built as close as
possible to the shoreline.
